January 5th - First solo dive

Today Trudy and I had breakfast at our favourite breakfast restaurant, The Lost Penguin. I have been dreaming about having the waffles with coconut and lime sauce. We then did a little Internet work.

Trudy and I then got our dive gear and made our way to a dive site up north called Karpata. It was a very good first solo dive. We planned to dive to the drop off which starts at about 15 ft. We were going to then go down the side of the wall until about 35ft, but no more then 40ft. We ended up drifting down to about 48ft, a little deeper than we planned but well within our comfort level. We then proceeded back up to about 30ft for the majority of the dive. We were under for an hour, and still had plenty of air remaining, but Trudy was getting a little cold.

The shot below shows Trudy on her first solo dive, just as we descended.

This is a Trumpetfish and a Queen Parrotfish in its initial phase. The Trumpetfish was following the parrot fish when we started the dive, and the two were still together an hour later when we ended the dive.
This is a Bicolor Damselfish
This group was feeding on something.
This guy is a Schoolmaster, along with the shot below.

Not sure what these guys are. We purchased the Paul Humann Reef Creature In-a-Pocket book and found out that these guys are called Christmas Tree Worms.

This is a Blue Parrot fish.
This is a Stoplight Parrot Fish in its Initial Phase.
This is a school of Smallmouth Grunt.
Not a great picture of a spotted eel, but Trudy spotted it, and I couldn't really get close for a good shot.
I think this is most likley a Graysby but might also be a Comb Grouper. The yellow guy is a Juvenile Threespot Damselfish.
