January 7th - 2nd Solo Dive/Snorkeling Lac BayToday we took our 6th dive, which was our second solo open water dive. For this one I picked another easy entry/exit site called Weber's Joy, or also known as Witch's Hut. I dove to 48 ft, and Trudy hit 44ft. Trudy got cold again, so the dive lasted about 42 minutes. We saw a couple of new animals on this dive--a Web Burrfish and a Chain Moray.
We then had some lunch at the unit and proceeded out to Lac Bay for a snorkel. It was very shallow, but I got a chance to photograph some juveniles
Dive site marker.Trudy looking nice and relaxed. Me looking like I am going to explode! Another shot of a Bicolor DamselfishStill not sure of the identification of this guy. This was our first Queen Angel fish. This is a Sand Diver. Trudy found him--I didn't see him until she pointed him out. This is our first Web Burrfish. Again, Trudy had the sharp eyes and saw him. She was pointing directly at him, and I was still unable to locate him. Finally after Trudy descended a little I was able to locate him for a few shots. Below you can see an example of a Christmas Tree Worm; the one below gave me a start. The shot on the left was taken first; I then slowly approached, and wham, it disappeared. This is a Fairy Basslet. ATrumpetfish. This is an example of some Tube Sponge. The shots below were taken at Lac Bay, the wind surfing location. It's a 20 minute walk out into the bay to get to the snorkeling location. These are a pair of Goldspot Cobys. A shy Juvenile Beaugregory.
