January 11th - Salt Pier

Today we looked at a couple of units that we might rent next year. One didn't look that good, and the other might be expensive. The owner has not given his price for a month yet. Trudy purchased a new set of booties for diving; the ones we had were not very thick on the soles, so we felt every piece of coral getting into the water.

For lunch we ate in town, and Trudy took a few shots.

In the afternoon we had a guided dive to the Salt Pier, with Eddie from Yellow Submarine. It was a very good dive, and again we saw some new fish.

This is a shot of Karel's Pier.

I am still waiting for my food!

The two shots below are of a Spotted Scorpoinfish. It sits quietly on the sea floor, preying on small creatures that venture too near its well-camouflaged exterior. If touched or stepped on, wounds from its spines cause infection and great pain. The shot on the left shows him waiting for food, and in one on the right, he has extended his fins and spines.
I think this one is some kind of Jack, but I am not sure.
