January 12th - Island Exploring

The day started with breakfast at the The Lost Penguin; another excellent meal. We had decided to go up the park, but a downpour of rain caused us to change our minds. I still wanted to do some exploring, so we went to the east side of the island to a lagoon. It was a waste of time; we had to drive by the island dump to get there, and the area was covered with garbage, and the lagoon was brown dirty water.

We drove back into town and picked up lunch from Subway and headed up the west coast for a picnic. We ended up at the Karpata dive site for our late lunch and a little relaxation.

This is a shot of our working area. It is always a mess, and usually has my computer set up.
This is a shot of the "Lagoon", not the image I had in my head when I saw "Lugon" on the map. Yes I spelled it correctly. I guess I will need to look up the meaning of Lugon in Dutch, as it is not the same as Lagoon.

On the drive back into town we took the long route through Rincon. Before getting there I took a dirt road off the main one and discovered a lookout over the valley. I took this as three shots and stitched them together to form one.

After Rincon, I took another dirt road towards the water and we saw a couple of donkeys. The donkeys run wild on the island, and like our deer they cause accidents. Slowly the numbers have been dwindling, as they are being moved to the Donkey Sanctuary. This year we have seen fewer wild donkeys.
