Bonaire
In January of 2005 we spent 3 lovely weeks on this small Caribbean island in the sun. Friends introduced us to this little piece of paradise, and we have plans for more vacations to the island. You can follow this link to see and read about the vacation. Our 2006 vacation pages can be found here.
Where is Bonaire located?
Bonaire is located about 75 km/45 miles north of Venezuela, and is 288 square km/175 miles. The island is part of the Netherlands Antilles (Curacao, St. Maarten, Saba & St. Eustatius), politically very stable and as virtually crime-free.
Because it is located below the hurricane belt, it enjoys good weather year round -- no storms or hurricanes, just some clouds and showers in the rainy season. The average temperature is about 28 C/ 84 F, which is the same as the water!
The island has a tropical desert climate with temperatures fluctuating in-between 94 F in summer and 81 F in winter. The northeastern trade wind, which blows continuously, is very cooling and makes it easy to endure the warm weather.
